He Is a King That Loves

We spent the morning with three young adults who recently aged out of foster care, and with Miles, a chaperone from Thrive who knows them well.
Thrive chose these three. Not because they were the worst off. Because they are the ones putting in the work. All three employed. All three trying. And every dollar they earn already has somewhere to be before it reaches their hand.
We gave each of them a budget. No list. No restrictions. Their money, their choices, their hands on the hangers.
We are not going to tell you what they bought
That is not us being coy, and nothing was wrong with what they chose.
It is that what a person picks out, when they have not had many chances to pick anything out, is theirs. It is not ours to put on a website.
What we will tell you is that they were humble, they were thankful, and they got what they needed.
The one thing I am taking with me
I will not tell you what they bought. I will tell you what one of them said.
We were walking back to the car, talking about God, and this young man stopped and turned and looked at me.
"He is royalty," he said.
Yes, I said. He is royalty.
And then he said this:
"He is a king that loves."
I smiled the whole way back to my office. I had taken the morning away from my consulting firm to be there.
What your giving did
It did not fund a program today. It bought three young adults things they needed, and then it let them choose those things themselves.
It gave genuine smiles and three very thankful hearts.
That is the whole thing. It is smaller than a campaign and larger than it sounds.
Special thanks to Ethan at Thrive, who coordinated all of this. Three schedules, a Thursday, and a plan that actually held. None of the good parts of this morning happen without somebody doing that unglamorous work first, and he did it well.
If you want to be part of the next one, give, or partner with us. We write more about days like this in the newsletter, for people who want to follow the work closely.
And if Thrive is where your heart is, give to them. They are linked above, and on our partner page. When we find a young person on the street, Thrive is often how they come off it.
If you would rather do something quieter, keep these three in your prayers.
Shalom, Shalom.
